vs Smith.ai
agentmomo and Smith.ai answer the phone differently.
Smith.ai is a live answering service with an AI option. The honest summary of the difference is that they sell you people first and we sell you an agent, and the two fail in different directions: a person handles the call you did not anticipate, and an agent handles the eleventh call at 6pm.
Side by side
What Smith.ai publishes, and what is true here.
Every sentence in the Smith.ai column comes from their own public page, read on 8 September 2026. Prices and plans change, so check the source before you decide anything on the strength of it.
Who answers
Smith.ai
Their pricing page describes "professional call answering by real people", with AI-first, hybrid and human-first options to choose between.
agentmomo
An AI agent answers every call. There is no human answering tier, and we would not sell you one.
What a plan costs
Smith.ai
Starter is listed at $300 per month for 30 calls, Basic at $810 for 90 calls, and Pro at $2,100 for 300 calls.
agentmomo
Not published. The tiers are not set, and this site does not print a number the operator has not decided.
What happens past the allowance
Smith.ai
Overage is listed per call: $11.50 per call over 30 on Starter, $10.50 over 90 on Basic, $8.50 over 300 on Pro.
agentmomo
Not decided, and it will be published rather than quoted on a call when it is.
The billing unit
Smith.ai
Per call, with a fixed number of calls included in each plan.
agentmomo
Not decided. Whatever it becomes, the page that announces it will say plainly what counts.
Channels
Smith.ai
Their site sells call answering alongside other engagement services; read their own page for the current list.
agentmomo
Phone, SMS and web chat, answered by one agent from one set of knowledge.
What you can read afterwards
Smith.ai
Not stated on the pricing page, so we are not going to characterise it.
agentmomo
Text transcripts of every conversation on every channel, readable afterwards. No call recordings exist anywhere in the system.
Getting started
Smith.ai
Their pricing page offers a "Get started" path per plan and a consultation booking.
agentmomo
No self-serve signup and no free trial. An account exists because we set it up with you.

Where they win
Buy theirs if you want a person, not an answer.
- You want a person on the line. If the call that matters to your business needs judgement, a tone read, or someone who can improvise, a human service is the right purchase and an AI is not.
- Your call volume is low and lumpy. Thirty calls a month handled by people is a different proposition from an always-on agent, and their published plans start there.
- You want the thing running today with a name and a contract behind it. We have one live deployment and no published price, and you should weigh that.
Questions
What people ask when they land here.
Is this cheaper than Smith.ai?
We cannot answer that yet, and we are not going to imply it. Their prices are on their pricing page and ours are not set. When ours are published this page will show both numbers side by side.
Can I have people answer the overflow and the agent take the rest?
Not through us. We do not employ receptionists and do not resell any, so a blended human and AI arrangement is something a service like theirs offers and we do not.
What do I actually get to look at after a call?
A text transcript of what the agent said, on every channel, readable in the console. There are no audio recordings anywhere in our system, which is a real difference from most services in this category and cuts both ways.
